“Overlooking the Plain”! April 18th, Jack

Looking out of the window I can watch an amazing scenario. I have got the whole city of Thorshavn below. Houses, schools, hospital, harbour etc. And beyond that The Atlantic

Ocean. I am at Faroe Islands – a group of small islands in the ocean between Norway and Iceland.

Close to 50.000 people sharing currency and queen with the kingdom of Denmark. They have their own parliament and an ongoing discussion for total independency from Denmark

I am at the Føroyar Hotel and will be starting a NLP Practitioner training in a couple of days.

This hotel is situated uphills and totally overlooking the city. From here I actually once watched the catch of a group of local whales – called “Grinden”. The whales had got inside the “fjord” and someone alarmed the city meaning that within minutes 50 small boats were hurrying into the water going out and incircling the flock of whales. Half and hour later the whales were forced to the shore and killed by people waiting for them. This has been going every year for centuries.

A couple of days later I met a man used to hunt “Grinden” and asked him why the whales did not just dived below the boats to escape. Sometimes they actually do – he answered back. But they always follow the leader who is the strongest of them – and very often the most stupid one too. So he can´t figure out how to escape.

I don’t know if this is true, but I could not help comparing this to the human world. How far have we got? Are we still following the leader? Or are we questioning the leader? Actually it seems to me that we have still got countries on the planet where opposition to the leader does not mean feedback and discussion but it means you are a traitor!

Fortunately the whispering winds of change blow the planet these years and this will come to an end too. We will see more freedom for individuals and more rights for people to speak their meaning.
