What a terrific week – Sunday September 26th 2009!
I am overlooking the Oslo Fjord from a house at the hillside of Holmekollen in Oslo Norway.
The view is breathtaking I have the whole city below me and the water further beyond that. There are really reasons to envy the Norwegians – most of the population in this country can enjoy a view to the sea, lake or river from their home.
I arrived two days ago from Minsk in Belarus to visit Helene, who has been here for a few weeks already. Also to give a talk and a seminar in the week to come. Yesterday I was already in the mountain for my first hike and enjoyed this feeling of connection I always get here.
Last week I did a Creating the Life You Want seminar in Minsk with a group of around 30 people. My sponsors had hired the most beautiful conference room for that – in a building called
the International House. It was as if the room itself supported me in teaching the seminar. I did a dozen of individual sessions after the seminar and had an early take off for Norway Friday.
It means a lot to me coming and work in Belarus from time to time. The population in Minsk really holds a huge potential at a deeper level and to my mind they are ready to take a big step forward to realize the use of that. I guess that especially the coaching model will be the tool for making that happen.
At the bigger scale we have had the General Assembly meeting in the United Nations this week and something happened during that. The Security Counsel voted yes to a resolution encouraging the World to get rid of nuclear weapons. Critics will say that this resolution does not really bind the member states to anything and this is right – however it is a breakthrough just to have the Security Counsel adapt the resolution. The day after there was a meeting in the G20 group of countries where they called of the recession – and I guess they are right about
that.
To me the question is if we have understood the deeper meaning behind the recession. If we believe that we can just go back to “good old greedy capitalism” I think we will be disappointed. I think that the ruling energy behind the recession was a wake up call for humanity to see ourselves. To get more in touch with the love of the heart and start to take more care of each other and the planet itself. I think it is time to organize things in another way. We are a lot of educated privileged people on this planet and we are also even more uneducated and poor people.
A few days ago it became known that the workers who fabricate for the sports shoo makers are paid less than one percent of the sales price in the developed world – it is not my job to judge that – however I think that we still have a long way to go and I do believe that education and knowledge is the key to a better world.
