How about death? PDF Print E-mail
June 26th Cyprus!

I am sitting on my room at the Lordos Beach Hotel and feel myself very much at home – actually this is my home. Temperature is high but we have the breeze from the sea and it makes us feel it a little cooler. Life here is an easy one and both Helene and I really enjoy being residents of Cyprus.

It is possible to find a few things that could be better here, but you know - that counts for any other country as well.

In a few days time we will be starting our summer training and run a NLP Practitioner, an Enneagram class, a Trainers Training and an Assistant Class at the same time. There could be more people enrolled off course – some people are a little careful about spending money these days - and that is understandable. However this will relize even more instructor capacity for the people who are participating and they will have a splendid result.

I read in The Times the other day about a new system especially meant for elderly people. How they can have sensors in their house monitoring them when they move around and keeping an eye on them with the purpose to send an alarm to health professionals if they ran into trouble. There is nothing wrong with that – I guess that most people would like to grow old in their well known premises.

The death of Michael Jackson was announced this morning. He was indeed a very extraordinary musician and composer and will be missed by many people. He was also a very lonely man and I wonder when he was really happy – probably with the music.

However it made me reflect a little about death in general. We almost never see a dead fish in the sea. They find somewhere to die alone. We almost never see a dead bird on the ground – they also find somewhere to die. We have all heard of the elephant graveyards – they know where to go when they realise that it is time. In the Indian culture the old people just walked away and sat down waiting for death to come.

Personally myself – I have always claimed that I will go to a mountain and find the right place to sit down and wait for death to come. I know that very many people are afraid to die – and I wonder why. Personally I have a belief that some of my energy – my spirit – will just leave the body and keep on living in another way - so according to my belief I am immortal. Most of the religions claim that in some way or another. And still it seems to me that a lot of people in the western culture for one reason or another have become very scared of death. For me it means a change from one life to another and nothing else - the show will go on. My only concern could be that I wait to long to go to the top of the mountain and would be unable to do it by myself.

According to Ancient Egyptian myths the soul was asked two questions when approaching the gate to Paradise: “Have you had joy in your life”? And the second was: “Have your life brought joy into others”? The soul needed two times "Yes" to be allowd inside.

I find this worth to remember while we are still alive.
