The need of creativity and flexibility

Once again I am back in my top floor hotel room in Cyprus. Sun is shining today and the waves are washing gently towards the beach. This is Cyprus the way I love it. However the day before my arrival they had a hailstorm and the day at my arrival – two days ago – they had snow in Nicosia for the first time in many years. Weather is more and more unpredictable – like a lot of other things in the world at the moment.

In a week I will start teaching a “Self-coach – the seven steps to Self – Practitioner Training – our brand new basic training with a lot of work for mind, body and spirit. I am really happy and excited about this. After that I will teach an Akasha- Healing seminar. I have room for more student s on both trainings.

On my flight from Scandinavia to Cyprus I had an opportunity to read a copy of International Herald Tribune my preferred newspaper.

The story was about Higuera de la Serena - a debt ridden small Spanish town of 900 houses, which according to the mayor Mr. Garcia, had been living beyond their means and now is technically bankrupt. Now they had the same problems like all over the Mediterranean – lack of income, debt and unemployment. The community had a fiscal shortfall of about 800.000 euro and no cash on hand to pay anything.

According to Mr. Garcia the health department of Spain was about to close down the day care center due to lack of a proper kitchen. Then Bernado Benitez, a construction worker, offered to put up the walls and tiles for free. Then Maria Jose Carmona, an adult education teacher, stepped in to clean the place.

After that the volunteers just kept coming. Every Sunday now, the residents of this town in southwestern Spain – young and old – do what needs to be done, whether it is cleaning the streets, raking the leaves, unclogging culverts or planting trees in the park.

“It was an initiative from them”, Mr. Garcia said. “Day to day we talked to people and told them there was no money. Of course they could see it. The grass in between the sidewalks was up to my thigh”.

Mr. Garcia himself is serving without payment and this count for the towns two other elected officials as well. They are also foregoing the cars and phones that usually come with the jobs.

Now he gets phone calls regularly from officials from other towns, who want to know about how they can do the same thing.

So a whole small town being taken care of by mainly volunteers because there is a need for it.

People on the planet are hastily moving into a new time and this will bring a lot of change to our way of living and how to organize things. Is this an idea of how to do? It will take flexibility land creativity from all of us. However this may be the most special ability about mankind - finding creative and flexible solutions to problems in daily life.
